PROJECT OFFICER

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, public health or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience working in the health sector, particularly in TB projects and lung diseases
  • Good understanding of the state of Tuberculosis in Kenya, and globally
  • Experience working in Arid & Semi-arid areas highly preferred, especially Marsabit/Samburu counties
  • Experience working in donor funded health projects, especially Global Fund projects  
  • Good training, facilitation and project coordination skills  
  • Excellent community mobilization skills and experience working with MOH, County government and other partners.   
  • In depth understanding of M&E systems applicable in health and TB programming
  • Good understanding of social determinants of Health and their related interventions
  • Good communication, analytical, report writing and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be a resident of Lamu or willing to relocate to Lamu

Responsibilities

  • Implement GF-TB project activities in Lamu County
  • Representing AMURT in forums/meetings with Partners and Government on TB management
  • Conduct sensitization and trainings to Facility Health Workers, Community Health Extension Workers, CHWs, and other community actors on TB Care and Prevention
  • Coordinating with the Facility Health Workers, Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), Community Health Workers (CHWs) and other community actors in implementing the planned activities and interventions
  • Regularly monitoring activities of the CHEWs, CHWs and other community actors at field level
  • Consolidating community health workers’ weekly reports for refund by the project accountant. Preparing and presenting weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports
  • Keying in data in NAVISON
  • Coordinating and conducting integrated outreach services and sample networking
  • Active case finding through public private mix
  • Preparing and maintaining a daily database on reported cases for contacts and defaulter tracing as guided by the project
